DESCRIPTION
This beautiful gold De Ville, manufactured in 1956, is a stunning example of vintage Swiss watchmaking with a number of novel hallmarks and innovations.
Hand-assembled by Omega in Bienne , the high-precision Calibre 491 automatic movement is their first example of a rotor-driven mechanism in a gentleman's-style watch. It has both anti-magnetic and shock-absorbent characteristics.
The movement in this watch is in very good condition with little to no signs of wear, having gone unused for decades before receiving a servicing detail in 2016.
The 34mm case is made of 18K gold and is also in remarkably good condition given the watch's age. The signature beveled silver dial identifies the watch as part of the Trésor range, with its inset minute markers and a small-seconds readout, parts of which are still used in contemporary Omega watches.
The watch retains all of its original components, including the silver dial surface.
